Building Project Update, 10.04.22

Last Sunday evening I provided a simple update which was that the project is now out to tender. Kirk Session met on Thursday evening past and discussed how to encourage giving to the Building Fund at this time. As I mentioned last Sunday evening, we are now in a crucial period in terms of financing the project.

Session have agreed that monthly updates should be provided about giving to the Building Fund. The first of those updates is in the announcement sheet this morning.

The Building Fund offering for March came to £6342. £4190 was received via standing orders and £2152 was received by cheque or cash. 78 out of 210 (37%) contributing members gave to the Building Fund in March.

In light of those statistics, Kirk Session have agreed to set a target for giving to the Building Fund this month. The target is that 105 out of 210 (50%) contributing members would contribute something to the Building Fund by the end of April (this month). No figure is being suggested. Session are simply calling for 50% of contributing members to give to the Building Fund.

Session feel that is a reasonable target. Hitting that target would provide great encouragement and support to the project and would help move it forward.

Once the tenders come back, the Congregational Committee will have a limited timeframe in which to make a decision. Prices are not being held for a particularly long time at the moment and the Committee will not be able to delay. It is therefore essential that we are further on than we are at the moment in terms of finance for the project.

So, that target again is that 105 out of 210 (50%) contributing members would contribute something to the Building Fund by the end of April (this month).

Standing order forms are available at all doors and also through the church website. For more information about how to contribute to the Building Fund, please speak to our treasurer Maureen Currie.

Let me say thank you for your continued support of the Building Fund. We are very thankful for all of your contributions.
