Below are the announcements from our service this weekend.
Wednesday Prayer Gathering
We are meeting to pray this Wednesday evening at 8pm in the Church Hall. I would encourage you to join us as we pray for our church family and also our island and world at this time. Please note that there will be no online midweek this Wednesday.
PW Missionary Donations
Usually the PW ladies would have been bringing their Mission Box donations and gifts for Seafarers to the October meeting. In order for this important practical ministry to continue, and because PW is not currently meeting, a couple of PW ladies will be in the church car park tomorrow evening (19th October). They’ll be there between 5.30 and 7pm to receive any gifts or donations. Alternatively mission box donations can be placed in the offering buckets, clearly marked PW or given to any committee member.
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal
I’m delighted to be able to say that the Christmas Shoebox Appeal is still going ahead this year. The date for you to bring your shoes to Buckna is Sunday 8th November. They’ll be put directly into cars here at the meetinghouse and the church hall. There is a £5 donation required to cover transportation and this can be paid by cheque or online. Please do not pay this by cash.
Anna Fleck will have covered shoeboxes tomorrow evening at the PW drop-off. Those are available for £1. Operation Christmas Child leaflets will also be available. If you have any questions about this important ministry please contact Hilary Alexander.
Let me really encourage you to fill a shoebox this year. Europe has been as badly affected by the pandemic as we have – if not worse – and it’s important that we continue to show love and kindness to others through this practical ministry. Below is a video with more information about the work of Operation Christmas Child. You can also read more about it and order boxes online by clicking here.
Resumption of Organisations
Kirk Session met on Thursday evening past and discussed the resumption of organisations. Given the introduction of new restrictions by the NI Executive and in light of advice from PCI, Session have extended the decision that organisations should not resume in person until after the next Session meeting which will be held sometime in November.
This is obviously frustrating but not unexpected given our current circumstances. Let me ask you to pray for our organisations – for those who lead in them and also for those who attend.
Vibe
Although organisations cannot meet in person at the minute, they can meet online. VIBE are meeting this Thursday evening on Zoom at 7.30pm. Catherine will be speaking on being committed to prayer. And all young people who are Year 8 and up are very welcome to join the online gathering.
Harvest Offering Envelopes
Harvest offering envelopes can be returned this month. Next week will be the final week for you to return those.
