Buckna Presbyterian Church

Announcements, 03.01.21

Here are the announcements from this week’s Sunday service.

Midweek Prayer Gathering

We’re meeting together this Wednesday evening for our first prayer meeting of 2021. Our time in the church hall will begin at 8pm and we’d love you to join us as we pray for one another and our world at this time.

Financial Contributions for 2020

Today is the last opportunity for you to give to our church for the year 2020. We extended this closing date until today because we weren’t meeting in person last Sunday.

Daily Bible Reading Notes

Daily Bible reading notes have been delivered in the past week by Laura Hamill. It would be appreciated if payment is made as soon as possible. Cheques will be accepted and can either be given to Laura or posted to her at: 32 Hazelbank Road, Aughafatten, BT42 4LP.

Reading the Bible in 2021

The final announcement this morning is about a new initiative I’m starting this week. It’s called Reading the Bible in 2021. The New Year tends to be the time when we make resolutions. One resolution that we can often make is that we’ll read the Bible more. Sometimes, it doesn’t quite work out that way though and we end up feeling guilty among other things.

At the start of 2021 and to help you read the Bible more, I’m going to post some short videos on the website during the month of January. I’ve already put a post up on the church website with some introductory videos about this initiative. You can access them by clicking here.

We’re using a 5 Day Bible Reading Plan. You can download that here and you can also lift a hard copy from all the porches this morning. I’ve made sure those are safe for you to lift – they’ve been in the meetinghouse and hall for over 72 hours.

The short videos that I’m going to post on the website will be available from tomorrow. There’ll be five per week and for more information on them, you’ll need to watch the introductory videos I mentioned a moment ago.

During the pandemic I haven’t done the daily video on social media thing. I’m not going to post the individual videos on social media – they’ll be available in one post on the website. The link to them will be available on social media but you have enough content on your newsfeed without me adding daily videos to it.

Let me encourage you to engage with this Bible reading plan. Even if you don’t use the videos on the website, you need to be reading the Bible and the 5 Day Plan has lots of benefits. We’ve also all got a little bit more time on our hands because we’re in lockdown. We can use that time wisely by reading our Bibles.

Join us on FaceBook

If you are a facebook user, then we would invite to to join with us there. Over the coming weeks and months it is our intention to use facebook to provide useful information, highlight upcoming online events and share items of praise that can be used in conjunction with our online services.

We feel this is a great way for our Church to remain active in these uncertain times and to let the wider world have a little glimpse of our life in the Braid.
