From today it is my intention to publish the announcements from our Sunday service on the church website. This will help you to keep up to date with what is happening in our church family in these days.
Epilogue Services – 9th and 16th August
The first announcement concerns our upcoming epilogue services. You will know that we are planning to hold two test services this month – on Sunday 9th and 16th August. To help us adhere to social distancing regulations, we are going to ask that you register beforehand.
The epilogue services will be held at 6.30pm in the meetinghouse and doors will open at 6pm. You will be able to register by phone and registration will be open on Monday and Tuesday of this week between 8-10pm for the first epilogue service (9th August). If you would prefer to attend the epilogue service on 16th August please don’t phone this week.
When you ring to register you will be given an aisle number and a seat number. There will unfortunately be limited seating and we will be using a first come, first served policy. If you ring the number and it is engaged, please leave a message and your call will be returned.
In the unfortunate event of the service being fully booked you will be given first preference for the second service. Please know that if you attend one epilogue service you will not be able to attend the other. We would like these test services to be experienced by as many people as possible
If you are in a social bubble with several different families, it would be very helpful if one person could ring to register the whole group. That will mean knowing how many adults and children are attending but it would cut down a significant amount of work for us. If you have any other needs, requests or requirements please mention those to us as well. The service will also be recorded and available afterwards online.
The person that you will speak to when registering is Richard Kidd. The number that you need to ring is 07851 048095. If you register on either Monday or Tuesday and your circumstances change, we would ask that you would let Richard know. We would also ask you not to attend these services if you feel generally unwell or are displaying symptoms of Covid-19.
I’m going to produce a short video which will walk you through what church will look like. The video will be available online later this week. Our online services will also continue as normal over the next few weeks as well.
We are excited about services restarting here in Buckna and I would ask you to pray for all the practical arrangements that need be made beforehand.
We had prepared an online survey for you to complete. Today is the final day on which you can complete this survey. Thank you to everyone who has completed it. We have had almost 80 responses which we’re very grateful for. You can complete the survey by clicking here.
This is something new for us as a church family. Unfortunately, pastoral visitation has been limited during the pandemic. At the minute I am only able to carry out a small number of essential visits. I’m also aware that some of you have concerns about coming into contact with other people.
In light of that, I am going to start something called Vestry Hour. I am going to be in Mobile 1 on Tuesday mornings between 11am-12pm and on Thursday evenings between 8-9pm. If you would like to speak to me about anything or if you would like me to pray with you, you can call down and we can have a chat. Social distancing measures will be in effect of course. Please feel as though you can call down though. I’d be more than happy to talk to you about anything and everything.
UCB Bible Reading Notes
UCB Bible reading notes for the autumn are now available. I’m going to bring these to Vestry Hour on Tuesday and Thursday and if you normally get a copy you’ll be able to pick one up then.
Meeting of Kirk Session – Thursday 6th August at 8pm
There will be a meeting of Kirk Session this Thursday evening at 8pm in the church hall. This is to discuss our return to public worship and I would ask you to pray for Session as we meet on Thursday evening.
Zoom Prayer Time – Saturday 8th August at 8pm
The fourth announcement is to say that we are planning to have a Zoom prayer time on Saturday evening. As I’ve already mentioned, we holding epilogue services over the next few weeks. We must pray and ask God to help us and bless us ahead of meeting together. Things will be different and so we need to pray that God would be with us in these days of change.
The Zoom prayer time on Saturday evening will be at 8.30pm and it’ll last for about half an hour. We’d love you to join us as we pray for our church family in these days. The details for it will be posted into the church family WhatsApp group.
